KISS: Japanese picture discs of the "Solo albums" Según Ingo Floren en su libro "The official price guide to KISS collectibles" (2004) estos discos, en perfecto estado, valen $350 COMO MÍNIMO...cada uno! No es que dude de la salud mental del autor, pero la verdad es que me es difícil de creer que esos precios sean correctos. Yo mismo compré estos discos recientemente, como nuevos, y desde luego que no me cobraron esas cantidades ni por asomo. Y de hecho conseguirlos en Ebay es bastante sencillo. $ 200 cada uno, y van que se matan (y aun me parece mucho). Por cierto, para los más paletillos, lo que se ve no es la portada, es el color del vinilo... Eso se llama "picture disc". Aprovecho para decirle al mundo, sin ninguna vergüenza, que mi "solitario" favorito es el de Peter. Ya somos dos. (Ahora será mi salud mental la que esté en entredicho...) According to Ingo Floren´s book "The official price guide to KISS collectibles" (2004) these albums are worth $350 each ...MINIMUM! Not that I think good Ingo had too much alcohol for breakfast, but I find those prices pretty hard to believe. I recently got myself these four (in mint condition) and I didn´t pay that much money...not even halfway close! Besides, getting copies of these in Ebay is not that difficult. I guess $200 each is good enough (and I still think it´s too much). By the way, what you see there is not actually the cover, but the vynil itself. That´s why they´re called "picture discs", in case you were that ignorant. I´ll use this webpage to publicly and proudly (and seriously) announce that Peter´s album is my favorite (Hey Peter, that makes us two!) | ||||

WHITE ZOMBIE: "Pig Heaven" (1st & 2nd pressing) signed by Sean Yseult Necesité cuatro intentos en Ebay hasta que conseguí la primera versión del single de vinilo "Pig Heaven". La segunda versión no me costó tanto esfuerzo. En cualquier caso, puedo asegurar que el precio se dobló en poco más de un año. Sólo existen 500 copias de cada uno (ahora ya únicamente 499). Ambas versiones vienen con una hoja con las letras. La segunda, según tengo entendido, también debería incluir un parche, que le falta a mi copia.(cagón ´to´). It took me four tries to get myself a copy of the first pressing of the "Pig Heaven" vynil single. And I can tell the price kept going to a higher roof time and time again. The second version, strangely enough, was much easier to get, which is weird since it´s as limited as the first one: only 500 copies (now 499). Both pressings include a lyrics sheet, but I the second also included a patch, that unfortunately is missing from my copy. Anyway, SEAN YSEULT personally signed them both for me. | ||

 | KISS: "The Black box" aka "The Kiss Bible" owned by Gene Simmons Curioso pack promocional. En 1.978, coincidiendo con los lanzamientos de los "Solo albums" el grupo mandó estas cajas a las emisoras. En ella se incluía una cinta con respuestas de cada miembro del grupo y espacios de silencio entre ellas. Se adjuntaba un libro con las preguntas, para que el dj de turno las leyera y pareciera que realmente el grupo estaba allí contestando. También se incluía el folleto "The KISS albums" y una postal. Un lote con 60 de estos regalitos sin usar, propiedad de Gene Simmons, salió a la venta en la subasta oficial "Butterfields KISS Auction" del año 2.000. El ganador del lote se dedicó a revenderlos después, uno por uno (el tío listo), con una copia del resguardo que demostraba la autenticidad del producto. This one is quite famous. In 1978, when the members of KISS released the four "Solo albums", these boxes were sent to radio stations. There was a tape inside with answers by Paul, Peter, Gene and Ace, and some blank spaces between answers. There was a booklet included in the pack with "suggested questions" that the dj would ask, making believe the band was actually in the studio answering the questions live. There is also a booklet called "The KISS albums" and a postcard. A lot of 60 of these boxes, unused and property of Gene Simmons himself were put for sale on the Official Butterfields KISS auction, in 2.000. The winner proceeded to later sell the 60 boxes one by one, with a a copy of the Butterfield Action bill of sale to prove this was the real deal. Quite a smart move... Due to its size and color it´s usually refered to as "The KISS Bible" | ||

KISS: "Hot Sound Vol. 7" Hyper mega rare compilation album Este disco puede valer $ 200, pero a lo mejor vale el doble... o la mitad (poco probable). Se trata de un disco de vinilo con varios grupos. KISS sólo aparece con el tema "Love gun". Tanto el año (1.977?), como el país de donde proviene este artefacto es un misterio. En cuanto a la discográfica, sólo pone "US680". El fulano que me lo vendió en Ebay me dijo que venía de Asia, pero bueno... Lo que lo hace tan especial es el hecho de que este disco no salga en NINGÚN catálogo, revista o libro sobre el grupo. Y después de 25 años coleccionando material de KISS literatura tengo para aburrir... En ninguno de los libros más importantes sobre coleccionismo de KISS aparece información alguna. Ni en "The Goldmine KISS collectibles price guide", ni en "The Confident Collector KISS collectibles identification and price guide" (¡toma ya!), ni en "The KISS collectors guide", ni en "Black Diamond 1 & 2", ni en "The KISS album focus", ni en "The Official price guide to KISS collectibles". ¡NI UNA SOLA MENCIÓN! This one may be worth $200, but very well could be worth twice as much ...or half (I hope not). This is a compilation album on which KISS features only one song ("Love gun"). Everything around it is a mystery: The country, the year (1.977?), the label ("US680"?): The guy who sold it to me told me it came from Asia. Whatever. What makes this record so desirable is the fact is that is NOT EVEN MENTIONED on ANY KISS book, catalogue or mag. And after 25 years of collecting I´ve read quite a few of those. The most important books on KISS memorabilia say NOTHING about this one: "The Goldmine KISS collectibles price guide", "The Confident Collector KISS collectibles identification and price guide" (now, that´s a title...),"The KISS collectors guide", "Black Diamond 1 & 2", "The KISS album focus", or "The Official price guide to KISS collectibles", to mention a few. NOT A SIMPLE WORD! The author of the latest book on the subject, Ingo Floren, emailed me saying he had NEVER EVER seen this one, not even a picture. And we´re talking about a guy who´s written a 450-plus page book on KISS records and memorabilia... | ||

 | KISS: "First Kiss, last licks" signed by Bruce Kulick "First Kiss, last licks" es un sampler que contiene 8 temas, todos ellos ya publicados, por cierto. Se supone que tres de ellos son inéditos, pero hay que ser un fan de KISS muy, pero que muy pringao para no tenerlos (y repetidos...). La rareza está en que sólo hay 800 copias en todo el mundo (todas en vinilo) y que al ser promocional su venta en las tiendas estaba prohibida (sí, claro...). Lo curioso es que a mi me tocó en su día en un sorteo entre coleccionistas de KISS, en el que yo ni sabía que participaba. Un día me lo encontré en el buzón y ya está. Si no vale los $ 200 hoy (que yo creo que sí), los acabará valiendo en cuestión de meses. "First Kiss, last licks" is a promo sampler that contains 8 songs. Three out of those were supposed to be rare unreleased material, but you had to be a real braindead KISS fan to not having them (quite a few times) before getting this album. The rarity of this one is that only 800 copies were released worldwide, all of them on vinyl. It has an stamp that says "Promo copy, not for sale". Yeah, right! The ironic thing is that I won this one in a KISS collectors contest I was unaware I was a participating in. Literally, I found it one day in my mailbox. If it isn´t worth the $ 200, which I do think is worth, It´ll reach that price within months. | |||

Many considered "Kisstory" to be the best Rock & Roll book ever. Well, Bowie put out another one that´s more limited (and expensive), but not as thick. Anyway, in order to have the first edition, one had to pay $150 (in the U.S.) or $210 (outside) ONE YEAR IN ADVANCE! Talk about being faithful!! The book, hardcover, and with a protective case, featured 440 color pages, weighing 8 Pounds, and was pretty huge in size. It came numbered and signed by the then-current lineup: Simmons, Stanley, Kulick and Singer. I also got Ace Frehley´s signature at a KISS convention in Laussane, Switzerland, and could have gotten Vinnie Vincent´s in another covention, in Barcelona, if that twisted shithead had showed up, like he was supposed to. Years later "Kisstory II" came, which is light years worse. More interesting is the book "KISS. The Auction", which is an excelent 200-color-page catalogue that contains all the items Paul and Gene put for sale on June 24th/25th, 2000. Also quite big in size, it came personally signed by Paul & Gene. I got Bruce´s autograph after a Union gig. | ||

KISS: "The Box Set", Deluxe edition Esta es la edición "Deluxe" del "Box Set" de KISS. En forma de maletín, con un interior rojo mullidito de algo parecido a terciopelo, y conteniendo 5 cd´s, un libro de pasta dura y una nota que dando algún rodeo venía a agradecernos por dejarnos la pasta en el artículo. No se crean, que salió otra versión, llamada "Premium Gold" para los más enfermos, que viene a costar $ 700. Totalmente desproporcionada, oiga... Not much to say here. The "Deluxe" edition of the KISS boxset was packaged in a guitar case, with a cool red velvet-lined interior, and contained 5 cd´s, a hardcover book and a note for the band saying, basically, "Thanks for your money (again)". Another, more luxurious edition came later, for the sicker ones, called "Premium Gold", which is worth around $700 now. Waaay out of proportion. | ||||

Recientemente ha sido re-editado en cd, pero este es el vinilo original, de 1983, conteniendo la hoja con las letras y firmado en persona por ambos (que podían haber puesto las firmas un poco más separadas, joder, que no sería por falta de espacio...) DREAM 6 was the name of the band JOHNETTE NAPOLITANO and JIM MANKEY formed before getting a new drummer and name to become CONCRETE BLONDE. This is the only stuff they recorded. KISS: Mexican "Unmasked", multicolored edition Yo soy el primer extrañado con el alto valor de este disco, pero según varias guías su valor es aun mayor. El caso es que yo lo conseguí en un mercadillo en México DF y desde luego pagué muchísimo menos, unos $30. Aunque "Unmasked" no pasará a la historia como lo mejor de su colección, fue el primer Lp que compré de KISS, y a mí en su día me parecía insuperable... I´m the first one in shock here knowing how much this one is worth, but according to some books & guides it is even more than that. I got myself this copy in a flea market in Mexico City, so I can tell you I didn´t pay anything close to that. Around $30. So it was a Mexican being ripped off by someone else (for a change). Everybody seems to agree that "Unmasked" is not among the band´s finest, but it was the very first KISS Lp I ever got, and at the time I thought it was unbeatable. | ||||

DAVID BOWIE: "Station to station" Deluxe edition boxset No es que este disco de BOWIE sea mi favorito (ni de lejos), pero esta edición especial es la pera. ¡Parece imposible alargar más una obra que sólo tenía 7 canciones en su versión original!La caja incluye (tomen nota): "Station to station (Original analogue master)" en CD y en vinilo, "Station to station (1.985 RCA cd master)" en CD, "Station to station (Singles Version EP)" en cd, "Live Nassau Coliseum `76" en doble cd y doble vinilo de 180 gramos, un Dvd (sólo música) con 4 mixes diferentes del "Station to station" (con diferencias mínimas) y golosinas varias (réplicas de un pase de backstage, de una biografía, de un kit de fan y de un ticket de la época, de un certificado de fan, 2 tarjetas, 2 fotos, dos chapitas y un poster... y puede que me deje algo) Not among my favorite BOWIE albums (not even close to the top of my list), but this limited edition is really something. It seems impossible how they stretch an album that originally contained only 7 songs! The boxset includes: "Station to station (Original analogue master)" on CD and vynil, "Station to station (1.985 RCA cd master)" on CD, "Station to station (Singles Version EP)" on CD, "Live Nassau Coliseum `76" on double CD and double 180 gram vynil, an "audio only" Dvd with 4 different mixes of "Station to station" (sounding pretty much the same to me) and several pieces of eye candy (replicas of a backstage pass, of a biography, of a fan club folder, a ticket and a fan club certificate, plus 2 cards, 2 photo prints, 2 badges and a poster...and I´m probably forgetting something...) | ||

THE CULT: Limited-edition boxsets (signed) The Cult han publicado a través de los años tres "boxsets" que son una maravilla (especialmente los dos primeros). El primero que publicaron fue "SINGLES COLLECTION 1984-1990", que consistía en 10 cd´s de material inédito en su mayoría. Dichos cd´s también se vendían sueltos, sin la caja, o siete de ellos con la caja, y había que comprar los tres restantes aparte (un poco lioso, la verdad). Desde luego la versión con la caja es la más rara. Años más tarde publicaron "RARE CULT", que es el sueño húmedo de cualquier fan. Seis lujosos cd´s negros que incuían 90 canciones, y todas ellas rarezas (aunque curiosamente se dejaron fuera el temazo "Painted on my heart"). Ambas firmadas por Ian Astbury y Billy Duffy en un meet and greet tras un concierto. Al poco tiempo salió "RARE CULT: THE DEMO SESSIONS". Esta vez son 5 cd´s, que incluyen 77 temas, todos ellos en versiones demo. Músicalmente es el menos interesante. Otra rareza de The Cult digna de mención es el cd doble "Live Cult Marquee London MCMXCI". Para empezar había que comprar la edición primera del recopilatorio "Pure Cult", y ahí venía la primera parte de regalo. Y la segunda se pedía por teléfono a Inglaterra, o se compraba uno la edicion cuádruple en vinilo del recopilatorio, y te lo incluían. Qué retorcido. No he puesto la foto porque "me rompía el feng-shui" de esta página. THE CULT have released three boxsets through the years. They´re all great, specially the first two. The first one was "SINGLES COLLECTION 1984-1990", that contained 10 cd´s of basically rare and unreleased material. There were two ways of getting these cd´s: Either you bought the ten loose cd´s in a regular store, or you bought the box with seven of the ten cd´s. Getting the box was actually pretty hard, even back then. Years later they released "RARE CULT", every fan´s wet dream: We´re talking about six cool black cd´s that included 90 songs, and all of them were rarities (it was ironic they didn´t include "Painted on my heart", a great track that should have been there).Both were signed by Billy Duffy & Ian Astbury at an aftershow Meet & Greet. Soon after that "RARE CULT: THE DEMO SESSIONS" came out. Another 5 cd´s that included 77 songs, all of them demos. Music-wise this one is the least interesting. Another Cult album worth mentioning is the double live cd "Live Cult Marquee London MCMXCI". First you had to buy the first edition of the compilation cd "Live Cult" to get the first disc, and then you had to call England to order the second one. Or you could buy the 4-vinyl set that included the whole thing. Pretty twisted. I didn´t include the picture because it would break this page´s layout, and the cover was quite simple. | ||
