Empezamos por el principio: Con Hole, la banda de la viuda de Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love...popularmente conocida como "la guarra esa". Este disco, "Celebrity skin" está bastante bien, aunque parece ser que Billy Corgan, lider (y cabeza "bien visible") de Smashing Pumpkins y ex-novio de Courtney hizo mucho más de lo que se le atribuye en los créditos. El mismo lo dijo y buen cabreo que se pilló Courtney... Bueno, el caso es que aquí están el cd y el cd-single de "Malibu" firmados por MELISSA | ||||||

Let´s start from the begining, with Hole, Kurt Cobain´s widow Coutney Love´s band. This release, "Celebrity Skin" is pretty good, even though it seems that Smashing Pumpkins ´ (huge) head master Billy Corgan worked on it much more than he is credited for... He himself said so and Courtney got very pissed off. Anyway, this is the cd and the cd-single for "Malibu" signed by MELISSA. | ||

 | Cuando los Pumpkins anunciaron su separación, se les ocurrio, para joder a la compañia de discos, que su disco "Machina 2" lo iban a regalar. Un fulano salía antes del concierto para anunciar que en internet estaban todas las canciones para que todo el mundo las pillara a saco. El problema es que el cd era largo de narices y salía más a cuenta pagar por la versión "bootleg" con su portada y sus títulos, que no eternizarse bajando las canciones. Visto el resultado, no me extraña que lo regalaran, porque es el peor disco del grupo con mucha diferencia. Esta versión doble venía en formato "digipack" con extras y un total de 44 temas. MELISSA lo firmó y lo dedicó con un "I love Spain" ¡Pero qué majica! (Haz click en la foto para verla aumentada) When the Pumpkins decided to call it quits they had this idea of hurting the record company by giving away their new cd "Machina 2" for free. In fact a guy would show up onstage before the show telling the audience that the record was out for free downloading. The problem was that the cd was quite long and was more worth it to get a bootleg copy, with a nice cover and the song titles than downloading the damn thing. In retrospective one can see it made sense that they did not charge for it, since it was, by far, the band´s worst release. This specific 2-cd version features a digipack cover, and some extra tracks to make it a total of 44 songs. MELISSA signed it and wrote "I love Spain". (Click on the photo to enlarge) | |||

Otra firmita de MELISSA: Esta vez en este "bootleg" de la última gira de los Pumpkins, llamado "Live Machina". Fantático disco doble en directo, con un sonido casi perfecto y un concierto especialmente inspirado. ¿Han oido a El Canto del Loco en directo? Bueno, pues todo lo contrario. Este es el único disco de "Hand of Doom", el grupo de tributo a Black Sabbath que MELISSA formó tras la disolución de Smashing Pumpkins (de ahí la dedicatoria "I love Sabbath"): Según me contó ella misma este disco en directo sólo se había editado en España (?). Tremenda portada con un primer plano del culito de nuestra adorada MELISSA. ¡Más portadas así es lo que hace falta para acabar con tanta tontería! (Haz click en la foto para verla aumentada) Another autograph... This is the only cd recorded by "Hand of doom", the Black Sabbath tribute band that MELISSA created after the Pumpkins left for good. Tras la aventura "Hand of Doom" MELISSA formó su propia banda, Auf der Maur, grabando un disco homónimo que recibió muy buenas críticas. Este cd es la copia promocional (y firmada) "de avance". O sea, no disponible para el público normal... aunque sí para el público enfermo. La pobre MELISSA ya no sabía qué escribir después de tantas firmas al mismo fan atosigante, y simplemente se dibujó unos cuernos (que casi no se ven). A lo mejor es que me quería expresar algo en clave. (Haz click en la foto para verla aumentada) After the "Hand of Doom" phase, MELISSA formed her own band, called Auf der Maur, recording a self-titled cd that received very good reviews. This is the advance, promo (and signed) copy of the album. Obviously, this copy was not availble for the "regular" costumer...only for the sicker ones. Poor MELISSA must have been so tired of signing stuff for the same guy that she just drew some horns on her own head, which are actually hard to see.  | Mientras que hay fans que compran la versión pirata de un cd, o directamente se la bajan de internet (ayudando así, a que su admirado artista tenga que dedicarse a otra cosa ¡Cutres, más que cutres!), otros compramos el mismo disco varias veces, si las versiones son diferentes. En este caso se trata de la edición británica, que aparte de portada diferente, venía con el video de "Followed the waves". También está firmado, para variar. Traído de Dublín por el amigo Andrés "el hombre gris". (Haz click en la foto para verla aumentada) While there are fans who buy the cheap counterfeit copy, or simply download it (forcing their beloved idol to quit music and work on something else), others buy the same album several times, if there are different editions worth collecting. This is the U.K. edition, which had an alternate cover, and the "Followed the waves" video. Brought to me by my very cool friend Andrés, "The grey man" Signed, of course. Este recopilatorio se llama simplemete "The Smashing Pumpkins" y se vende en China. Incluye temas que van desde el cd "Gish" hasta "Machina", con algún tema raro como "Eye", "Drown" (versión corta) o, lo más interesante: una versión en directo de "Quiet" que se pela el escroto. La lista de títulos está plagadita de erratas, siguiendo los estándares de calidad habituales en los productos chinos. This compilation cd was only sold in China, and it´s simply called "The Smashing Pumpkins". It includes tracks that go from "Gish" to Machina", with some rare tracks, suck as "Eye", "Drown" (short version) and, most important, a killer live version of "Quiet". The song list is packed with typos, following the Chinese quality standards... |  | |||

 | Con MELISSA AUF DER MAUR viví una de las historias más felices en mi vida (o sinvivir) de fan y/o acosador. Resulta que A Perfect Circle tocaba en Madrid (22 de Enero 2.004). Con las entradas agotadas semanas atrás, se anuncia, un par de días antes del concierto, que la telonera sería MELISSA y su nueva banda Auf der Maur. Sin entradas, decidí ir temprano a la puerta del local ya que, aunque no pudiera ver el concierto, podría conseguir su firma en mi numeroso material. Llegué a conocer al grupo (que eran muy majos) e incluso a Twiggy Ramirez, alias Geordie White, quien me firmó toda mi colección de MARILYN MANSON...que también llevaba conmigo, al igual que toda mi colección de SMASHING PUMPKINS, por si intimaba con James Iha (¡¡que uno es un profesional!!) e incluso nos hicimos una fotillo Twiggy y yo. El caso es que MELISSA fue la última en llegar (momento que recoge la primera foto), pero cuando le conté que no tenía entrada, y tras comprobar mi calidad de fan enfermo 100%, pronunció unas palabras mágicas a la asistente que iba con ella. Literalmente dijo: "Put this GENTLEMAN on the guest list" ¡Vamos, que me invitaba! Hay que decir que luego en la puerta en fulano de turno no tenía dicha lista, y como no se creía mi historia, no me dejaba pasar. En el último momento, con el esfínter bien prieto, pasó otro tío con la lista de los invitados de MELISSA. Sólo había un nombre: El mío. (El recto se me relajó sobremanera y recobró su tamaño habitual) | |||||
With MELISSA AUF DER MAUR I lived one of the most gratifying experiences of my life as a fan / stalker. A Perfect Circle happened to play in Madrid (Jan. 22nd, 2.004). The tickets had long gone sold out when, just two days before the show, it was announced that MELISSA ´s new band Auf der Maur would be opening. So I decided to go to the venue early to try to catch her and have some autographs on my stuff. I got to meet her band (quite cool people, by the way) and even Twiggy Ramirez A.K.A. Geordie White, who signed all my MARILYN MANSON cd´s...which I also had with me, along with my entire SMASHING PUMPKINS collection, in case I could meet James Iha (I ´m a real pro!) and even had a picture taken with Twiggy. Anyway, MELISSA was the last one to arrive there (see first photo). When she knew about my story and saw how high-quality of a sicko fan I was, she pronounced the magic words to her assistant. The exact words were "Put this GENTLEMAN on the guest list". By the way, later the guy at the main door wouldn ´t let me in since he had received no guest list and did not believe my story. I was just to give up when another guy showed up with a one-name list: Mr. E.Lopez. At this point the hole at the end of my rectum recovered its ordinary width. | ||||||
