La primera vez que fui consciente de que me encontraba ante una nueva Diosa del Rock and Roll fue cuando vi a Smashing Pumpkins en directo con la bajista que sustituía a D´arcy. Parecía que nadíe podría hacer olvidar a D´arcy y, sin embargo, MELISSA AUF DER MAUR la mandó de un golpe al olvido más absoluto. ¡Qué hembra!. Yo tenía ya el disco de Hole en el que MELISSA participó ("Celebrity skin") pero hasta que no la ví en persona no descubrí su potencial "gallinaceo". Tras la triste desaparición de los Pumpkins, MELISSA formó un grupo de tributo a Black Sabbath (Hand of Doom) para, más tarde, formar su propia banda, Auf der Maur, y grabar un disco muy potente. Pero esto es sólo el aperitivo: Cuando la conocí personalmente me encontré con una de mis mejores experiencias en esto de atosigar celebridades. La historia del tremendo favor que me hizo se puede leer en la sección "¡El feliz encuentro!" I first became aware that in front of me I had a true Rock and Roll Goddess when I went to see The Smashing Pumpkins live with her new bass player. It seemed like no one could fit in D´arcy ´s shoes and, however, MELISSA sent D´arcy to oblivion the moment she hit the stage. It´s hard to forget such stage presence and hot looks! By that time I already had the Hole cd MELISSA played on ("Celebrity skin") but did not realize of her potential until I saw her in front of me. After the sad farewell of the Smashing Pumpkins, MELISSA created a Black Sabbath tribute band (Hand of Doom) to later form her own band Auf der Maur and record a powerful debut album. But the icing on the cake came when I met her personally and she proved to me how extremely cool she was. (Read about it in the "Meeting her" section) | ||

Lo bueno no es sólo tener esta pequeña joya, sino las circunstancias en las que lo conseguí, con una Melissa que se portó como para besarla los pies cada vez que la vea.  | El 25 de Abril de 2.004 MELISSA volvió a tocar en España, aunque esta vez como cabeza de cartel. Por desgracia sólo pasó por Barcelona, así que tuve que ir para allá (que no sé por qué güevos hacen eso, cuando hay ejemplos a patadas de que en Madrid va MUCHA más gente a los conciertos que en Barcelona. Los promotores están giliposhas). Aparte de poder hablar con ella en soledad durante un rato largo, que ya mereció la pena el viaje sólo por eso, también tuve tiempo para darle los regalos que se merecía (por la ayuda prestada en Madrid), de hacerle unas cuantas preguntas, de hacernos fotos juntos (con mi cámara... ¡y la de ella!), y de que me firmara todo lo que le llevé. Esta página apareció años atrás en un periódico, anunciando el tour de despedida de los Pumpkins (con el que pasaron dos veces por Madrid) Y es que ya era muy fan de Smashing Pumpkins antes de que apareciera MELISSA. (Haz click en la foto para verla aumentada) On April the 25th, 2.004, MELISSA returned to Spain to play, this time, as the headliner. Unfortunately, she stopped only at Barcelona (I wonder why musicians do that, when it´s a fact that MUCH more people attend to concerts in Madrid than they do in Barcelona. Dumb promoters, I guess). Anyway I went to Barcelona where, before the show, I could meet her again, just her and me. I gave her the presents she deserved for the favour she did to me months before in Madrid, I got to ask her several questions, we had some pictures together (with my camera...and hers!), and she signed every item I handed to her. This is an ad for the farewell Smashing Pumpkins tour. I had the chance to see them live the two times they performed in Madrid during that tour.
